Archery Indoor Awards Show

As we had to finish the indoor season rather abruptly without finishing our indoor Bray league or shooting the indoor Portsmouth handicap. We have thrown together a video on YouTube covering the winners of the following rounds/shoots:

  • Indoor Handicap Portsmouth
  • Friday Night Bray League
  • Overall Best Improved Handicap

You can find the video on our YouTube channel (the video is better suited to desktop PC screen, laptop or TV):

Return to Archery – We’re ready!

Thank you for your patience whilst Ely Archers prepared for our return to archery.  We are now ready to welcome you back to Ely Archers to shoot. King’s School, Ely have kindly spent several days getting the Amherst Field ready for us.

We are following the Archery GB Phase One guidelines. Until restrictions are lifted, we will have to shoot with some restrictions in place, just like other sports who are now restarting.

One of the main rules is that we can only have one archer or household per target. As we have 10 targets, we have also had to create an online booking system. You must pre-book your one-hour session before arriving for archery practice.

Our first few sessions will really be a test of our procedures and to see what demand is like. So please bear with us, as some things may change.

These are baby steps and a way of getting back into archery. So please look upon them as a way of getting some fresh air and coming and practicing shooting your bow for an hour a couple of times a week.

Now please read the important guidelines and details on how we intend to run the sessions:

This document together with a risk assessment can also be found on our rules and policies page:

We plan to have our first shooting sessions on Sunday morning (7th June 2020).

Max 50 yards distance. When booking your distance, please think first. Remember you have not shot outside for a while – or at all for a while!

Booking is now open for Sunday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s. Bookings open a week in advance.

Please look in your email inbox (or junk folder) for an email from the club that contains the booking web link.

See you on the range!

Archery Suspended due to Coronavirus

By now, you may have seen several emails from Archery GB regarding actions to be taken, in light of the governments recommendation to restrict public gathering. It will come as no surprise to you, that they have taken the decision to suspend archery activities:

Archery GB

What can clubs do?

We are advising that all archery in the UK is postponed for the foreseeable future, to reduce all non-essential contact with others. Our priority is the health and safety of our members, participants, volunteers and staff. Our latest statement can be found here.

We would like to clarify this guidance to providers of grassroots archery following on from the announcement made last night in relation to COVID-19 which can be found here.

While we work on pulling together further guidance which will answer the many questions you may have, please use our statements to inform your members and stakeholders.

Please feel free to email us at membership@archerygb.org and we will do our best to answer your queries and add them to our FAQ’s. Please be mindful that we are experiencing a large volume of enquiries so we may not be able to reply within the usual 72 hours.

The club committee has also discussed this, and we are in agreement that the health and safety of our members is paramount.

Therefore, Ely Archers will be suspending all club activities immediately. We will be keeping a close eye on the developing situation, and when there is any change, we will inform you directly.

Please see the Archery GB website for their FAQ and useful links for more information about what is being done to safeguard members.

If you have any questions, the committee will endeavour to answer them; but we are in the same situation; so working through this on a day by day basis.

Look after yourselves.
